The Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid or Palacio de Oriente) is one of the largest royal buildings in Europe, with more than 50,000 m2, comprising 3,418 rooms, 240 balconies and 870 windows, as well as the Real Armoury (one of the largest collections of luxury weapons of the House of Austria).
Believe it or not, what stands out most is not the size of the palace, but the richness and beauty of its rooms, with a decoration that makes the Patrimony of National Heritage a must-see if you visit Madrid.
Guided visit to the Royal Palace
Since Philip V in 1734 decided to build the Royal Palace after the fire of the old Alcázar, is when the kings from Carlos III to Alfonso XIII began to live there.
We will plan your personalised guided tour, we will visit the different rooms starting with the entrance hall, we will be amazed by the hall of columns, the Gasparini room, the porcelain room, the gala dining room or the throne room.
We can admire part of the clock collection (some of them automatons), the carpets and tapestries, the chandeliers, the frescoes by Raphael Mengs or Corrado Giaquinto, the Stradivarius collection…
Continuing with the Visit to the Royal Armoury of the Royal Palace of Madrid
…
You will find a multitude of tourist visits to the Royal Palace, but our tour will also guide you through the Royal Armoury Museum in the Palace, whose exhibition of weapons (swords, shields and armour) has its origins in the testamentary dispositions of King Felipe II, and is now one of the jewels of the Spanish Historical Heritage.
In the exhibition we can see some court portraits, works by Rubens and Titian, as well as the imposing armour that each monarch wore, symbolising the immense power they had at the height of the Spanish Crown’s splendour.
Dare your eyes and you will be fascinated by the refinement and luxury of the Royal Palace.
